Pong 3D

Published by Martijn

During the Pong 3D project, a mobile phone 3D Pong game was built which can be controlled by moving around the cellphone. The movement of the bat is controlled usng the video feed from the phone’s built-in camera. A simple frame-to-frame comparisson was done to estimate the direction of motion of the camera. This translational information was then translated into movement information of the on-screen pong bat.

Because of difficulty in the camera access of J2ME applications on mobile phones the proof-of-concept was built in a Sony-Ericsson emulator using webcam video feeds.
